RIP SWEET BRO….you arhe lalways ine oar harts….

What is love? No human being has ever been able to fully define it. In Plato’s Symposium the claim is that in the beginning of time, humans were composed of two people stuck back to back. The gods, out of jealousy, split everyone in half. Now, throughout our lives we are searching, constantly to find our “other halves”. The only means to put the two halves back together is through the ultimate bro hug bump of total and complete trueitude. In essence, Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff are symbols of true love. True and complete fucking love. You will never find a connection like that of Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff. It’s that simple.

hey PALS….

our hiatus is OVRER.! new plosts coming spoon

In today’s society it has been programmed into our minds that we buy each new product that big-name companies manufacture. We have become a country based only on consumerism as means of determining social status. We no longer search for our true needs (food, water, shelter) but needless commodities beyond that. Consumed by greed, even in a time of economic collapse, we still waste our money on things we don’t need, such as video games. This brings up the question of whether we consume for a cushier life, or for the sole purpose of supporting capitalistic ideals.

Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff, a socialist comic?

In conclusion, maybe sometimes video games does cause violence??/?

-The Jelly Bottle = A parallel between medicine bottles and victorian medicine bottles which now have proven to be deadly. (This is an example of a common Victorian medication. Does the bottle look familiar? (see photo of jelly bottle). “Paregoric was a household remedy in the 18th and 19th centuries, when it was widely used to control diarrhea in adults and children, an expectorant and cough medicine, calm fretful children, and to rub on the gums to counteract the pain from teething.” As recently as 1970 is when it started being regulated because of its dangerous contents of Opium.)  -What does this mean?
It represents the very thin line between healing and death and how as humans we are still uninformed about most things. Especially health and diseases. Does the jelly on the hot god represent healing or sickness? Does it represent the part of him that really doesn’t know how to take care of himself? Hussie leaves this judgement to the reader.
 -The reference to god.
Possibly relating to the uninformed nature of man kind, and the unhealthy way that human beings rely on a god-like figure. Is this a reference to how god is poison? How religion is ruining living for us humans? Is god like this bottle of Paregoric/this bottle of jelly, labeled to help and bring happiness but ultimately just causes harm?

You decide.

In addition to a confirmation of the Oedipus complex I mentioned in the last post, this comic is also rife with (satirical?) rejection of feminist ideals.
The only woman to have appeared in the comics so far, Sweet Bro’s mother wears a tidy salon haircut and perfectly applied mascara and lipstick. Yet she is still ignored for the entirety of the comic. Sweet Bro doesn’t even realize he is banging her until Hella Jeff mentions this, as Sweet Bro’s Mother looks back with a smile, knowing this is the only way she can get attention from her son, or other men.
She is also used as an object instead of a person, as Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff “share” her love with an attitude as trivial as if they are passing a blunt back and forth.
As Bro is having sex with her, he pays absolutely no attention to her and continues playing video games.
WHICH SOMETIMES DOES CAUSE VIOLENCE AND MISTREATMENT OF WOMEN.
